#rocksofprayer

So, we have started a new project in my little one stoplight town.  It is a combination prayerwalk and scavenger hunt.  Although it is not facepainting, clown or balloon related, it is a project I am involved in, so I wanted to share it.

It started with an article about a scavenger hunt for small stones decorated by a local artist in a large town up north. This idea was adapted for our own local scavenger hunt and prayer walk. Our Rocks of Prayer are decorated by children and adults who then place them in locations for you to find and keep. There is a short little poem listed below to use with your little prayer rock. When the rocks are hidden, a prayer is lifted not only for the person finding the rock, but also for different areas of our small town of Ashville, Alabama.

A photo of each of our hidden rocks is posted on our instagram account (rocks of prayer) and facebook group. Be sure to post when you find it so others don't continue to look for a "found" rock.

Did you find a rock?  We have a Facebook group called Rocks of Prayer and also and instagram page rocksofprayer where newly planted rocks are posted. Find the photo of the rock you found and just comment that you found it.  You can also post a picture of you with the rock if you would like. Know that the artist of your creative little rock has lifted a prayer just for you.  We may not know your needs, but God does!

PRAYER ROCK POEM
I’m your little prayer rock and this is what I’ll do.
Just put me on your pillow till the day is through.
Then turn back the covers and climb into your bed
And WHACK … your little prayer rock will hit you on your head.
Then you will remember as the day is through
To kneel and say your prayers as you wanted to,
Then when you are finished just dump me on the floor,
I’ll stay there through the night-time to give you help once more.
When you get up the next morning CLUNK…I stub your toe
So you will remember your prayers before you go.
Put me back upon your pillow when your bed is made,
And your clever little prayer rock will continue in your aid.
Because your heavenly Father cares and loves you so,
He wants you to remember to talk to him… you know.
